within the Fairbanks Mining District. The deposit at Fort Knox is mined by conventional open pit methods. Mining is carried out on a year:round basis, seven days a week. Fort Knox is currently seeking a Strategic Mine Planner to execute the strategy for the mine planning team and to ensure service and / or operating standards are met. To contribute to the design and development of processes, practices and methodologies in the mine planning team and to ensure continued growth of the team and to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Duties
To work within the active mine planning team:
Contributes to the development of processes, policies, systems and practices within the mine planning team that contributes to effective mine planning
Analyzes and interprets information in reference to mine planning
Researches information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies or methodologies
Contributes to the development of policies and practices in the mine planning department
Prepares communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to technical issues, program or systems
Keeps on top of trends related to mine planning and incorporates this information into work assignments and approach
Actively seeks and provides mentorship and learning to improve product or technical knowledge and skill set of self and team
Collaborates with senior management to identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps and implements agreed upon solutions
Designs initial, intermediate, and ultimate pits and pushbacks, based on ore
